Deatech and Marche

Marche - a plural region. This was the slogan that accompanied the development of the territory towards the end of the 80's: exactly when Deatech srl settled in the Marches most southern area.

Why plural? The answer is easy for those who already know this "slice" of territory. Only 9.000 km2, where tourism industry in its broad meaning of small and medium concern - furniture, footwear, mechanical and chemical industry - and, why not, agriculture, still live together in harmony! A fruitful land, our land. More than 50% of the wine coming from the Marches is produced in Ascoli Piceno province. Not many years ago this scene, to be discovered and enjoyed in small doses, was chosen as the site of Deatech srl, and thanks to its situations and the happy moments it offered, it became a real springboard for our activity! Hard working people do their best and, just as we usually say, "with no whims". A few figures summarize and describe at one's best our performances. A look at the turnover and production increase should help understand: 1989: 600 tons and € 1.3 m sales 2004: 40,000 tons and € 88 m sales The reason for such results can certainly be found in the synergy of a lot of opportunities and successful solutions. We will not hide that, as a matter of fact, Deatech was established to supply the domestic market.

Nowadays the picture is completely different: the market is, to say the least, worldwide. Italy absorbs only 35% of production and the rest of the world 65%. This achieved a winning team both as to organization and innovation. It is not to disregard the mean age of 36,4 years, spread on 82 employees. Today Deatech is the result of mergers, acquisitions and concentrations dictated by product and market innovation processes.

Of tremendous importance was the acquisition by ALTANA Chemie of the business "electroinsulating products" from our main competitor, Schenectady-Beck Group, USA, which required the integration of the production being carried out in Slinfold, England, into our two Italian plants: Quattordio, merged as of January 1, 2004, and Ascoli. How did the picture change? This is not a futile question, as, even though its production capacity is unchanged, Deatech could benefit by a rise of its own market share. Sales increased by about 25 % and our commercial penetration grew thanks to a wider and technologically more advanced product range. The above is not a trivial matter, and involved reassessments, adjustments and enlargements of all company structures. One of these unavoidable choices was to enlarge the departments located in Ascoli. Easy to say, a bit more complicated to realize. The turning point was offered by a factory bordering to Deatech, which intended to cede a part of its premises according to its shake-out policy. What we can describe by saying "the squaring of the circle": to find the necessary area, as comfortable and safe as possible, and - not bad - at an acceptable price, and all facts showed that our choices were well-aimed.
