Solvent based Varnishes

Impregnating varnishes are key components of modern motor, generator and transformer production. They turn the laminated core and the wire winding into a homogeneous and mechanically stable unit. The advantages are excellent protection against a wide variety of environmental factors as well as improved heat transfer between wire winding, slot insulation and core.
Oven dry varnishes are applied after the impregnation process with secondary insulating materials. Most common is a simple dip & bake process. For a more selective coating,  Elmotherm varnishes can also be applied under vacum. ( 0,2-0,3 Atm). The product shows, due to the high  content, a very low flow time and therefore an excellent penetration ability. Dilution of the varnish can be carried out with special range of thinner. For a correct management of the product, it will be necessary to observe carefully the viscosity. The curing of the varnish must be occurred gradually. The temperature in the first step should be kept at 80 to 100 °C in order  to evaporate a high degree of solvent and to avoid bubbles. After the drying process will be finished  at 130-150 °C.
