Magnet Wire Coating
Specialty coatings applied to copper and aluminum conductors to created dielectric strength, thermal endurance, chemical resistance, mechanical strength and sustained high voltage resistance. These polymers constitute a diverse line of chemical structures based on polyimide, polyamideimide, polyester, polyester-imide, polyurethane, phenoxy and polyamide, formulated to meet the exacting requirements of our customers.
Insulating Varnishes
Composed of specialty polymers designed to enhance the properties of electrical and electronic devices when coated over magnet wire as mentioned above. The synthetic resins are based on the following chemistries -
alkyd, saturated and unsaturated polyester, phenolic, epoxy, polyurethane and alloyed resins of the above. These products, may be based on solvent or waterborne concept, or used with reactive diluents creating 100% solids resins.
Encapsulating Resins
Used primarily to impregnate electrical and electronic components to give dielectric protection, as well as heat shock resistance, moisture resistance, high voltage spike resistance and to create good thermal conductivity. Some of the polymers used in these applications are epoxy, unsaturated polyester, polyurethane and hybrids of the above. Formulated resins are available filled or unfilled, either one-component or two-component.
ELANTAS PDG, INC. also manufactures a wide range of resins for various electrical applications, such as banding tape, mica binders, tubing and sleeving varnishes, poltrusion resins, laminating resins, adhesives and conformal coatings.
Manufacturing
The main plant is located on 18 acres in the industrial area of north St. Louis. Manufacturing includes reactor, blending, and compounding capabilities.
Manufacturing personnel operate on 24 hour, 7 days per week schedule to insure adequate supply of material on a timely basis to our customers worldwide.
Technical Support Services
Each company of ALTANA stands ready with the highest quality technical group to support our products and customers in the use and application of these products. Each division may be contacted separately to request this technical support. See individual company descriptions for more information.
