Bad Homburg v. d. Höhe, April 02, 2002
Change of Management at ALTANA Chemicals
Dr. Klaus Oehmichen, Head of ALTANA's Chemicals division since 1984 and member of the Management Board of ALTANA AG since 1990, will be 65 on October 1, 2002. After an exceptionally successful career, he will step down from the Management Board on this date to take well earned retirement. The Supervisory Board of ALTANA AG has appointed Dr. Matthias Wolfgruber as his successor. Dr. Wolfgruber will take up office as a member of the Management Board of ALTANA AG with effect from July 1, 2002 and will assume overall management of the Chemicals division as from October 1, 2002.
Dr. Matthias Wolfgruber (48), who is a post-graduate chemist, joined the Wacker-Chemie Group in 1985, where he has held various functions, most recently as President and CEO of the American Wacker Chemical Corp. in Adrian, Michigan.
The ALTANA Group's Chemicals division is to be renamed ALTANA Chemie AG mid-way through 2002. There will also be a change of name for the Pharmaceuticals division, which will be known as ALTANA Pharma AG rather than Byk Gulden.
The Supervisory Board of ALTANA AG has also extended its contract with Dr. Hans-Joachim Lohrisch, head of the Pharmaceuticals division, by a further five years. Dr. Lohrisch will assume overall management of the newly named ALTANA Pharma AG as Chairman of the Management Board mid-way through the year.
