Climate protection is a central pillar of ELANTAS’ sustainability strategy and fully aligned with ALTANA’s climate targets. The ALTANA Group aims to become virtually greenhouse‑gas free across the entire value chain by 2050, with science‑based targets validated by the SBTi as intermediate milestones. ELANTAS contributes actively to these goals through concrete measures at its sites worldwide.

Reducing energy consumption through efficiency improvements
Expanding renewable energy generation, including on‑site solar power
Switching to green electricity, which ELANTAS has sourced centrally worldwide since 2020
Reducing water use and waste, while increasing recycling and waste recovery

By continuously improving processes and infrastructure, ELANTAS reduces emissions and resource consumption while maintaining high product quality and operational reliability.

Sustainable products and innovation

Innovation and sustainability go hand in hand at ELANTAS. Around 50% of new product developments focus on improved sustainability, such as enhanced energy efficiency, reduced material use, or lower environmental impact over the product lifecycle.

ELANTAS evaluates R&D projects according to defined sustainability categories, including:
